Garage Conversions
Converting a garage is one of the easiest ways of getting extra space in your home, without adding an entire room. By taking care of waterproofing, opening up windows and bringing up a wall, you can convert your garage into a bedroom or family room. Remember, that a garage conversion will include electric and plumbing work, and installation of heating and cooling systems. You can also create additional storage space to continue using your garage to hold seasonal items and materials, household and gardening tools etc.
Having a designated storage area in your garage conversion will enable you to have extra space for storage, as well as a family room or home gym. If you have the luxury of space, consider multiple uses for your converted garage. For instance, if you plan to convert your garage into a room for socializing, you will also need to install an extra bathroom, a bar area and an entertainment center. A room like this can also easily double as a family room. Chalk out your garage addition plans to meet your needs perfectly. An extra bedroom will always need an attached bath, so allow for additional plumbing expenses. A home cinema will need extensive rewiring of the garage. A larger kitchen will need heavy duty appliances, like a freezer and therefore, may need additional wiring.
Check with your local Charlotte, NC area building authorities about special requirements that are needed for a garage conversion. For instance, if your garage conversion affects the drainage system, you may need to apply for special permits. If in doubt, ask for the advice of your surveyor. The time to get your permits in place is before you start work on the project.

Hello. I am trying to find out how much it would cost to convert my 3rd bedroom into a single car (attached) garage. It was once a garage but was converted into a third bedroom so it is built to be a garage in the first place. I think all it would be is ripping down the front and putting in the track and door.
